39 George St, Thebarton ADELAIDE
The first half of 2015 saw energetic Melbourne quintet, Perch Creek take some time away from their busy touring schedule to focus on writing, the fruit of which can now be savoured as the first sweet taste of their upcoming third album, the brand new single Mama Sings.. The band’s first official release under their recently shortened band name Perch Creek, Mama Sings showcases a revitalised sound to accompany the refreshed name.
With a ghostly, haunting chorus reminiscent of an old R’n’B sample, the track features lush electric guitar, modern production and a heavy back beat, juxtaposed against a gritty, rural lyric exploring the universal theme of struggle. In this context the unusual addition of the musical saw floats through this track like the ghost of someone you didn’t know you missed.
Perch Creek will be returning to home soils this September for the Mama Sings single launch tour – their only Australian tour of 2015. Across a few select shows, the Mama Sings tour will see the band premiere songs from the forthcoming album, an exclusive look into the exciting new musical direction the band have taken.
