Adelaide The Songs
Adelaide The Songs is a special presentation of new songs inspired by our city. This acclaimed concert/cabaret was one of the surprise hit music shows of the 2016 Adelaide Fringe Festival, receiving 4.5 stars and glowing reviews. It has since then played to sold out shows within the History Festival and the inaugural Umbrella Winter Music Festival.
This unique show was devised back in 2014 to create some new songs about Adelaide’s CBD, its history, identity, stories and characters. Every city deserves to be sung about. Seven local songwriters came together with renowned historian Patricia Sumerling and uncovered some of the darker and lighter aspects of our hometown. Songs explore a range of topics from sex & politics to beer and back again via tourism, migration, murders, religion and a range of fascinating dinner table conversation topics. The show is presented in the genres of ballads, blues, anthems, theatre songs, ditties with jazz, folk as well as even tango and belly dance.
