A musical journey from Bizet to Barcelona.
Lose yourself in an evening of songs and music, inspired by Spanish nights. Enjoy favourite hits from Carmen and folk songs including Besame Mucho, Chick Corea’s classic love poem “Spain” and authentic Andalusian flamenco pieces.
The stellar trio of Adelaide-based artists flamenco guitarist Aloysius Leeson, swinging fiddle player Julian Ferraretto and opera and folk singer Elizabeth McCall will entertain you with a performance showcasing their exquisite talents.
A love of flamenco led Aloysius to spend time in Spain following the traditional apprenticeship of accompanying singers and dancers. Since returning to Adelaide he has continued to perform as both a soloist and accompanist. Career highlights include performing with his quartet at the 2014 Adelaide Guitar Festival and a number of performances in Singapore with dancer Antonio Vargas.
Composer and violinist Julian Ferraretto has toured the world as an improvising fiddle player including performances with Natacha Atlas, Bruce Springsteen, Shakira and Eska. Highlights include regular performances at Womadelaide, sold out performances of his own works as a soloist with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and performances at all the major European jazz festivals.
Singer Elizabeth McCall sings with the South Australian State Opera Chorus as well as performing her own works as a soloist and with her duo the McCall sisters. Career highlights include performances at the Royal Opera House, the BBC Proms, Wigmore Hall recordings, Matthew Herbert recordings at Abbey Road studios and touring as a principal singer with Unexpected Opera.
