Persian Music Concert – Sarv Ensemble

Persian Cultural
Association of South Australia and Sarv Ensemble Australia have
joinedtogether to organise a music event. The Sarv Ensemble will tour
Australia with 7 international musicians from Iran/Canada &
Australia.
The Sarv ensemble was primarily established in Australia in 2001 as a
professional band, comprising of professional Iranian Musicians. This
ensemble performed at various events, performance halls, theatres and
festivals around Australia.
Sarv Ensemble’s first performance was shaped by Salar Ayoubi (local
Canberra musician from Iran) in July 2013 at the Australian National
University followed by a successful tour around Australia in August
2013 and February 2014.
The band invited Maestro Majid Derakhshani from Iran in 2014 to
perform in Australia and again is pleased to have Maestro Derakhshani
back in Australia to perform in their August tour.
Maestro Majid Derakhshani and Maestro Mohammadreza Shajariyan first
visited Australia with Shahnaz Ensemble in 2009. He is presently
active and has played a considerable role in introducing and shaping
young talented musicians to the music community in Iran. He is a known
figure for his work in leading and introducing female musicians and
singers, providing them with an opportunity to share their talent with
other members of the community, something that they are not allowed to
showcase publicly in their home country.
Maestro Majid Derakhshani lived in Germany for 20 years after the 1978
revolution in Iran. He then returned to Iran in 1998. After his return
to Iran he produced an album with Maestro Mohammadreza Shajariyan (Dar
Khial), which reached the highest sales in the Iranian music market
for over 3 years. In the past 20 years, he has recorded over 150 music
albums.
Derakhshani has performed in many countries around the world and has
actively been engaged in many musical projects with musicians from
diverse backgrounds.
Maestro Majid Derakhshani was banned from leaving Iran for a number of
years for his work with solo female singers and introducing them to
the music industry. Maestro Majid Derakhshani is still under
restrictions in Iran and cannot have public performances until further
notice. He uses social media and YouTube to talk and stay in touch
with his fans around the globe.
After he was banned from leaving Iran, media around the world
criticised the Iranian Government for their decision.
PCASA is pleased to announce that, Sarv Ensemble including Maestro
Derakhshani and 6 other amazingly talented male and female musicians
will be performing a live concert in Adelaide on Sunday 20 August 2017
(Brighton Art Centre – Concert Hall) and in 5 other cities around
Australia.
Sarv will perform a variety of classic, folk and contemporary music
from Persia.
