West Terrace Adelaide SA 5000
PHILOXENIA,
Sat 21 Sept, 8pm at Olympic Hall 288 Franklin Street, Adelaide
Night of dancing and entertainment on the Saturday 21st September to raise funds towards the development of our documentary, PHILOXENIA, the latest documentary by award winning Adelaide filmmaker, Anne Tsoulis, whose last documentary FROM UNDER THE RUBBLE won best documentary at the 22nd Arab Film Festival in San Francisco and Best International Documentary at the Jelly Fest Hollywood, and was nominated for best documentary at various Australian and international film festivals.
PHILOXENIA tells the powerful story of the heroes of Lesbos who between May-October 2015 helped rescue some 400,000 refugees landing on their shores. Why tell the story now? We find ourselves in a world where xenophobia is on the rise and we want to address the imbalance by promoting the word, Philoxenia, defined as kindness to strangers and the antonym to xenophobia, and by doing so promote its use in any discourse on migration and refugees.
Its world premiere will be at the Adelaide International Film Festival in October 2020.
