4 Concerts in May:- Burra/Peterborough/ Auburn/ Adelaide
Award winning Arts organization Hats Inc proudly presents Songs of The Mid-North as part of the 2019 SA History Festival.
South Australian songwriters and musicians will present concerts in three Mid North towns and Adelaide presenting a concert of songs celebrating the community life, history and identity of the Mid North region of SA. The songs tell the stories of this unique region through music, songs and poems that talk about Mining, Railways, Wine, Farming and life on the Land. Along the way we will visit and celebrate people, places and events such as Goyder, Bob the Railway Dog, R M Williams, The Burra Gaol, the Country Women’s Association, Golden North Ice Cream and more
Songs of the Mid North is based on HATs acclaimed ‘Adelaide Songs’ project that has created over 30 new songs about our city, receiving rave reviews for Adelaide Fringe concerts along the way.
The project is led by the ‘Adelaide Songs’ songwriting team of Paul Roberts, Paula Standing, Keith Preston and Alan Roberts and percussionist and musicologist Satomi Ohnishi. Combining together with talented Mid North musicians and songwriters Iain Ross (Kersbrook Hill), Judith Dawson (Yacka), Kate Battersby (Peterborough) Jenny Loftes & Chris Goodall (Burra) Bob Charman (Stockport) and Ben Eggleton – The Bard from the Scrub (Orroroo) The songs are many and varied and include ballads, country, blues, jazz, cabaret and comedy songs.
HATs is excited to be able to present this special arts and music presentation that is tailored especially for the Mid North region. We are sure that the Mid North communities will enjoy seeing and hearing their story told through music, song and poetry. Songs of the Mid North is a special community event that should not be missed.
